Three Finger Tawse
A rebenque whip cut into strips. If the rebenque itself is already hard, by dividing it into strips the impact surface is reduced and becomes more damaging. If the ends are also cut into a point, the circle is closed.
It is quite loud because it actually makes several impacts in a row but sufficiently far apart to cause the sound to be prolonged.
It can be manufactured with different degrees of flexibility depending on tastes. Generally, rigid cowhide over 3 mm is used to give it a completely forceful consistency. The one shown in the image is from our personal team and is made with 3 mm thick cowhide.
Of course it can also be manufactured with two strips, with a straight cut end, with rounded tips or completely beveled and matted edges.
In the model shown, and in all of them in general, the three fingers of the tail come from a single sheet of cowhide that is inserted inside the cowhide handle and is hand-sewn with it with quadruple stitching (longitudinal and lateral zigzag) with 1 mm polyester thread. This seam makes it extremely non-slip in any circumstance and very comfortable to use since the contact with the handle is always rounded.
The tail is sewn along its entire length with the handle and the rigidity is provided by a carbon fiber rod inside, making any detachment or breakage of it very unlikely due to the time it is used or the force applied. The division of the strips starts from a perforation in the cowl to avoid tearing.
It starts from the base of a handle that is longitudinally rigid and semi-rigid at the edges of 20 cm, and the body shown measures 40 cm in length by 40 mm in width in 3 mm thick rigid cowhide. These measurements adapt to any reasonable requirement, with 50/50 (cm length, mm width) also being common.
